Elizabeth Ainsworth
Resistance Veteran - 'Retired' Gladiator
Profile
Skills
Weapons Specialist
Having never possessed any innate magical talent, Elizabeth instead focused on what she was capable of; skill at arms. Years of her life have been spent learning various fighting styles, and she is now proficient with an assortment of weapons. Though her preference seems to tend toward blades, she's equally as skilled with a polearm.
Hand-to-Hand Combat
Owing to her time spent as a gladiator, Elizabeth is highly skilled in close-quarters martial arts. Even divested of a weapon, her strong grasp of pugilism still makes her a serious threat on the battlefield. Used in tandem with a bladed weapon or polearm however, she becomes a tempest on the battlefield.
Abilities
Aether Burst â—† â—† â—‡ [Earth-aspected]
Recently, Elizabeth has learned how to channel aether through her body to bolster her fighting style. Using her grasp of this technique, she can create a violent 'burst' of aether when she strikes an enemy in hand-to-hand combat. The physical impact of these strikes are devastating, though repeated usage of the technique can leave her exhausted.
Mistral Rive â—† â—‡ â—‡ [Wind-aspected]
A result of Elizabeth's attempts to channel energy into a weapon. This ability allows her to imbue wind-aspected aether into a blade and use it to carve through the space between herself and an opponent. Though it can be used up-close, she's found it is best employed at mid-range - as the practice of channeling is still new to her and, thus, takes time.
Ala Mhigan Shamshir
This blade once belonged to Elizabeth's father, and is one of the few heirlooms she has to remember him by. It had been kept by a friend of her family for over twenty years, and was given to her following Ala Mhigo's liberation. Expertly crafted, but entirely mundane, the blade hasn't failed her since it passed into her hands.

Bloody Sands
In the past, Elizabeth fought in the Coliseum of Ul'dah as a gladiator and prizefighter. Her fighting style, a bombastic and unorthodox mixture of swordsmanship and pugilism, made her difficult to predict and quickly gained her the adoration of the crowds. Perhaps you witnessed one of her matches in the past? Or, if you're a fellow gladiator or pugilist, you could even have crossed paths once already; either around the guilds or on the bloodsands.
Ghosts of the Past
Following the battle at Baelsar's Wall, Elizabeth elected to cross the newly opened border and join the Resistance as a freedom fighter. Placed with a small scout unit, she spent months behind enemy lines helping to provide intelligence and liberate small villages deep within the Peaks of Ala Mhigo. If you were with the Resistance, or a member of one of the Grand Companies, it's possible you might've crossed paths with her. However, she seems unwilling to discuss the war if it's brought up - perhaps there's some reason for that?
Forgotten knowledge
Following Ala Mhigo's liberation, Elizabeth encountered a countryman who had once been one her father's confidants. Unto her he bequeathed a blade and a book - both possessions of her late father's, the latter being his journal. Through this she learned much of the man she'd never known - including that he was quite the historian. His final entries, dated over two decades ago, detailed the discovery of rumors relating to an ancient Ala Mhigan art of war. Practically overnight, Elizabeth became a student of history. She now seeks this knowledge for herself, but will gladly share it with any historians, antiquarians, or learned individuals that can help her uncover the truth.
Until recently, Elizabeth worked as Head of Collections for the Yielding Veil Holdings - where her work saw her collecting on debts owed to the company. While she attended to her duties as required, there was always a part of her that felt she was taking advantage of people. As the company has transitioned toward more direct support of adventurers, her position was deemed to no longer be necessary. Now operating as one of the Holdings' senior field agents, she has the free time to aid adventurers personally. If you're in need of an introduction to the company, or you're simply looking for leves, she'd gladly offer her aid.
Others
The RP hooks listed here are just a few starting points, and there are plenty of other RP situations that Elizabeth could fit into. While she's primarily a fighter, she's got a good heart and will gladly lend her aid to those that need it - no matter the situation. I'm also open to longer-term RP plots or setting up prior connections, if it all makes sense. Just send me a whisper if I'm online!

The Mentor
Little did Elizabeth know what would become of her life the day that Rokuyo Mizutani found her in Thanalan, offering up a promise of gainful employment. Bereft of purpose and content to drink away her days in any seedy bar that would have her, she found herself intrigued by the Doman woman. "What could she possibly see in me?", Elizabeth wondered through her drunken haze.Only a few years later, Elizabeth looks to Rokuyo not only as her employer at the Holdings, but an honored mentor, a fellow soldier, and a friend. After all they've been through, it's clear that Elizabeth trusts her judgment, and would happily follow her into the Hells themselves. All Rokuyo would need to do is ask.
The Confidant
Introduced to each other through their employment to the Yielding Veil Holdings, Elizabeth and Esmond truly couldn't be more different from one another. His patient and even-keeled personality is the antithesis of her tempestuous and fiery demeanor, but they became fast friends despite the gulf of difference between them.If asked about their friendship, Elizabeth would be nothing but honest; she has the utmost respect for him, and would gladly trust his skills as a swordsman if she needed someone to watch her back. But beyond that, she knows that Esmond is simply trying to be a good man in a harsh world. In her eyes, that makes him a friend worth having.
The Chirurgeon
Many of Elizabeth's past experiences have put her on operating tables or in hospital beds, followed shortly by a doctor or chirurgeon telling her how 'unwise' her lifestyle choices seem to be. In truth, the young highlander owes quite a bit to those gifted in the healing arts, though her relationship with Wen goes beyond just scrapes and broken bones.Having recently found herself struggling with an inexplicable condition, she sought out Wen's knowledge as the Holdings' Chief Chirurgeon. After a few months of tests and investigation, Elizabeth now finds herself within reach of the answers she seeks - and she owes it all to Wen. Ever a simple soul, Elizabeth now views Wen as a friend, and hopes to grow closer to her in the future.
The Busker
Elizabeth was introduced to Odilon around the same time she joined the Yielding Veil Holdings, and to this day she views him as a curious anomaly. Having never been a student of the finer arts, the busker's grandiose displays of bardic talent tend to go right over her head. Nevertheless, she views Odilon as a friend - though she's quick to call into question the lengthy list of 'titles' that he seems so insistent on repeating. But she'd never deny that, once you look past Odilon's bravado, he possesses a rare skill with bow and song that merits respecting.
The Antiquarian
For a long time, Elizabeth never understood the point of scholarly pursuits. To her, life was measured in how good one was with a sword - but meeting Annalise was one of the events that caused her to reconsider. For some reason, she feels drawn to the bespectacled antiquarian - perhaps it's her kind-hearted nature, or the quiet resolve you can see in the Midlander's eyes. She's also witnessed Annalise's spell-craft, and though the nature of such practices eludes her - she knows strength when she sees it.Though she already views her as a friend, Elizabeth hopes to become closer to Annalise in the future. Mayhap she'd appreciate an extra set of hands during a delve? Elizabeth has never had an eye for antiquities, but surely there's some way she could help out.

10+ years of RP experience between various MMOs (mainly World of Warcraft) and tabletop
I do have Mare, but I don't just give out my code randomly. Let's RP a bit first, see where it goes
My preference is to roleplay with more grounded characters whenever possible. No in-character WoLs, resonant, hypertuned, voidsent, or anything like that
I'm usually pretty chill when it comes to RP, but there are topics I won't touch. I won't post an exhaustive list, but if it could have a tangible effect on Elizabeth or affect her long-term (e.g. injury or the like) I'll obviously want to discuss it. I'll treat you in kind - I'm just looking to keep the RP experience enjoyable for everyone
It's unmistakable that highland blood runs through this hyur's veins, though it's just as plain to see that she differs from her brethren in more than a few ways. Where you'd expect to find the strong jawline and hard gaze of the warrior-folk of the peaks, she instead bears a somewhat softer, rounded face and bright, upturned eyes. She's also fairly short for a highlander, standing around the average height of a man from the midland clans.Tresses of wavy, chestnut-brown hair frame piercing blue eyes - her gaze ever burning with determination. More oft than not, a playful smirk dances across her lips, almost as if to indicate there's mischief afoot. Small moles and other birthmarks are obvious in her features, one in particular sitting noticeably above the right side of her chin. A tiny divot of missing skin can be seen on her left cheek, nearly imperceptible from afar, that appears to be the scar from a poorly-healed pockmark. It's also apparent, given the contour of her nose, that it's been broken once or twice in the past. Rarely is she seen without warpaint, a tradition of her highland heritage, adorning her features. She seems to favor a hawk's talon motif on the forehead and a slash-mark across the nose.Outfits of light, flowing cloth, seemingly a staple of her wardrobe, reveal that she's anything but soft in physique. Fitting the profile of a fighter who prefers speed and reflex over sheer brawn, she is slim and athletic; her figure accentuated by toned abs and defined arm and leg muscles. Her seeming preference toward a lighter wardrobe also reveals a number of scars across her abdomen and arms - a warrior's spoils. Unless wearing something that covers it, one of these stands out above the rest; a cruel-looking laceration at the base of her neck, across her left shoulder and clavicle. She bears tattoos along her left arm, beginning at her bicep; taking the form of scarlet flames. While much of her garb seems to favor function over form, it's obvious she's fond of jewelry. Bangles, necklaces, and other bits of ornamentation are common, but one piece she's never seen without is a silver pendant in the shape of a griffin. She seems prone to clutching it in hand when lost in thought, as if she's calling upon it for some form of guidance.
